From Mercury to “Toots” — Finding His Forever Home
When Otto (formerly Mercury) joined his new family in June 2023, it was love at first sight. His adopters already had an older dog and were hoping to bring a younger pup into the mix — one who could learn the household routines and add a little spark of energy. With the help of fosters Katie and Tarik, they met Otto and instantly knew he was the perfect fit.
Finding His Place
Otto settled in faster than anyone expected. He learned from his older “brother,” mastered potty and crate training, and quickly earned the title of king of the bed. Once he realized he was home for good, his playful personality shined. He keeps his family laughing daily and has brought out a new spark in their senior dog, too.
One of Otto’s most special moments came when Up Pup & Away helped connect him with his full brother, Charlie (formerly Neptune), who was also adopted in the Denver area. Watching the two pups play together — with nearly identical personalities — was a heartwarming reminder of just how small the rescue world can be.
A Perfect Fit
Otto’s family says he brings joy and energy into their lives every single day. He’s the happiest greeter, the best snuggler, and the ultimate adventure buddy. “He’s brought life and laughter to our home,” they shared. “We couldn’t imagine life without him.”
Otto’s Family’s Advice
“Never count an adoptable animal out! There are so many wonderful animals who just need a second chance — you don’t need the fanciest house or the biggest yard, just love, commitment, and an open heart. They might fill a space in your heart you didn’t know you needed filled.”
